Dharm |
After a successful debut screening at the 60th Cannes International Film Festival 2007, director Bhavna Talwar's movie Dharm, has been selected for the 38th International Film Festival of India which starts on November 23rd in Goa. The International Film Festival of India aims at providing a common platform to filmmakers and cine-goers to enjoy internationally acclaimed films and to appreciate new trends and techniques being adopted by different countries.
Dharm has been selected to be screened in the IFFI out of 160 films. It will also be showcased at various international festivals like the Cancun Film Festival in Mexico, the Asian Film Festival of the first films in Singapore and the Palms Spring Festival in California.
Excited at Dharm being screened at the IFFI and other acclaimed international film festivals, Bhavna Talwar said, "I'm overjoyed! Dharm, being part of the Indian panorama, is a matter of tremendous pride. These are the showcase films of India and will travel to many festivals. A large and varied audience will get to see the film all over the world. While my film explores the religious undercurrents in India, it also aims to spread the word that irrespective of where we come from or what religion we follow, humanitarianism is every individual's prime duty. In a world full of terror and violence, Dharm conveys a message of hope and shows to the world that all is not lost."
Dharm, released in June this year, has Pankaj Kapur and Supriya Pathak in the lead roles and was in the news about an Oscar controversy. |
